Somdeepa Das

I am a PhD student in Economics at Purdue University. I work in applied microeconomics, with interests in labor economics and public economics. Thank you for stopping by!

My current work focuses on collective bargaining in academia, examining how unionization shapes wages, mobility, and research productivity among academics. In related projects, I study how alcohol access affects traffic safety and how legalized sports betting influences student outcomes and responses to labor market shocks, as part of a broader agenda on how changes in access and incentives translate into behavior and welfare.

I will be on the academic job market in Fall 2026.
